The word computer science of course has a meaning
You studying nothing about computer; you are studying problem solving and algorithms and so on ..

All SHOULD not be related to computer, exactly when you studied geometry, it wasn’t related to earth and survey ?
And when you finish you computer science course you will find it related to the logic, problem solving, MAGIC and these things can be applied anywhere no specific relation to computers, Any logic -compatible- system can implement these rules.. ?
In case you had a programming language course illustrating the CS concepts like Data structures with Java or Algos. with C++ it’s just for clarification .. no more !!

Very famous quote for a very famous ACM awarded Computer Scientist:
“Computer science is as much about computers as astronomy is about telescopes” (Edsger Dijkstra)

And I believe in that definition, which makes CS more Engineering than science to me..

I just reread that. I see now I didn’t get your point at first.. so now, I have another concern.

How on earth can you judge the courses we will be taking if you have absolutely no clue whatsoever on any of them? I mean, even I don’t know what they are yet. =\ (I only took two computer courses so far btw.) Even if you’re correct, how in the blues can you judge they are not the correct definition of Computer Science?

I swear they are .. I was just stating a world wide mistake called the computer science as a word .. ??

So I Strongly believe that you are having computer science courses ; what I’m saying that computer scientists themselves said that It’s not about computer why it should be computer and it’s more about the problem solving science ?!
And I sometimes think it should be called problems solving ART may be because we tend to use computational ways but it’s still pure logic that it’s in concern !!

So anyway, oneday -as usual- you will find that’s not about computer at all ..
So they shouldn’t call it “computer” Science …
OR they may call it COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Anyway, there’s a huge difference between thinking you’re always right and actually always being right — one day you’ll hopefully understand, and hopefully learn.
